Fuel adjustment provision

Information on the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s fuel adjustment provision, how it works and related documents.

Overview

The fuel adjustment provision explains how fuel price changes are handled for certain Department of Transportation and Infrastructure contracts. This provision is used to adjust payments when fuel prices increase or decrease beyond a set limit. The goal is to keep contracts fair by accounting for large fuel price changes while the work is being done.

Fuel adjustments may apply to some contracts issued before May 1, 2023, such as winter maintenance or other eligible work. Not all contracts include a fuel adjustment provision.
