Overview
The Games of La Francophonie are held every four years and are the only major international games to present both cultural and sporting competitions, offering a unique opportunity to spotlight the wide reach and originality of the French culture, at the same time as the athletic capacities of French-speaking countries around the world.
The games have enabled thousands of artists from the 80 member states and governments of La Francophonie to perform on the international stage.
The Arts and Culture Branch manages all aspects of the cultural competitions for the Games of La Francophonie for the Province of New Brunswick, including the selection of artists, the jury process, as well as supervision of the artists at the games.
The next games will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, July 23 to August 1, 2027.
Level of funding
The program offers an amount of $3,000 to the artists selected for the team, as well as preparatory and travel expenses.
Eligibility
If you are an artist in one of the following disciplines and a New Brunswick resident aged 18 to 35, you could be selected by a provincial jury and an international jury to be part of New Brunswick’s cultural team.
- Painting
- Photography
- Song (individual or group of up to four musicians
- Literature (short story)
How to apply
Guidelines and forms for applying are on the Arts Culture NB Portal.
To submit an application:
- artists must first create their user profile by clicking on the “GUIDE Create your profile” button, the portal will email the username and password for the applicant to log into the system and apply for the Games of the Francophonie Program
- once their user profile and password are created, the artist can log into the site and access the guidelines and link to the application form they submit on the portal
- applicants must read the application guidelines (PDF 473 KB) and prepare the related documentation for their specific discipline and attach it to their application form when submitting
