Acquisitions

The collectionArtNB program purchases artwork by contemporary New Brunswick artists.

Overview

The Acquisitions Project of collectionArtNB purchases new artwork on a bi‑annual basis to enrich and expand the provincial art collection. Professional artists who have resided in New Brunswick for at least 12 months prior to the call for submissions are eligible to apply, and all submissions are reviewed through a structured peer assessment process.

collectionArtNB is committed to supporting, respecting, and representing the full diversity of professional artistic practice in New Brunswick. The project upholds principles of equity and inclusion across gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, socio‑economic status, national origin, physical ability, and faith, ensuring that the provincial collection reflects this diversity.

A peer assessment committee, composed of qualified arts professionals, evaluates submissions and recommends works for acquisition. Committee decisions are guided by the collectionArtNB acquisition guidelines and the project’s approved budget, ensuring a transparent and consistent process in the development of the provincial collection.
