Call for arts jurors

Each year, the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage, and Culture appoints arts and culture professionals as jurors to evaluate applications for various funding programs.

Jurors are chosen based on their expertise, experience and analytical skills, focusing on regional and cultural diversity and linguistic balance. They are encouraged to use their preferred language during deliberations.

Status of the Artist in New Brunswick

The Government of New Brunswick is committed to improving the social and economic status of professional artists. Under New Brunswick’s Status of the Artist Act, departments work with artists using practices that ensure their work is respected, that they are treated equitably as professionals, and that they receive fair pay for their contributions.

Juror Fees

Jurors are compensated according to the CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens) Professional Services Fee Schedule rate for Selection Panel Fees. Jurors also receive additional reading or review fees. Final rates depend on the time commitment and number of applications reviewed.

The purpose of the Juror Application and Consent Form (PDF 102 KB) is to assist the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture in establishing a comprehensive list of potential jurors to form future juries.

As a potential juror, you may be invited to review and select artworks for the collectionArtNB Acquisitions Program, assess proposals for provincial Public Art projects, or evaluate applications for other department programs.
