Artists In School Program (Anglophone Sector)

Schools in Anglophone districts can apply to the program by partnering with a professional artist to develop a creative project.

Overview

We invite schools to submit to the Creative Arts Grant Program (formerly the Artists In Schools Program). The program is offered by the department of Education and Early Childhood Development. For more information and how to apply to the program, please contact Andrea Gaujacq at [email protected].

Eligibility

Schools in Anglophone districts are eligible to apply to the program by initiating a project together with a professional artist(s) in any but not limited to the following artistic disciplines; Music, dance, theatre arts, literature (playwriting, storytelling), plastic arts and media arts such as film and video.

Only artists included in the NB Artist Registry for Education are eligible.

Description

The program aims to encourage learners to express themselves and actively take part in the creative process of an arts project with a professional New Brunswick artist that responds to curricular outcomes.

Objectives of the program are:

  • to allow learners to think creatively and critically through education in the arts
  • to give learners a lifelong appreciation for the arts and ensure a knowledgeable audience for the work of professional artists by encouraging arts literacy
  • to offer learners the opportunity to work with professional New Brunswick artists while actively participating in artistic projects in the context of their academic curriculum
  • to provide learners and educators the opportunity to experience a live performance, demonstration or exhibit by a professional New Brunswick artist
