Trucker Safety Program

Learn about the mandatory safety training that operators must complete to transport materials on provincial road projects and contracts.

Overview

In an ongoing effort to improve safety for workers and the travelling public relating to highway work, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has implemented the following trucker safety program. 

Operators of private trucks are required to complete the following basic safety training to haul materials on highways projects and contracts: 

  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Orientation 
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training

NOTE: Operators will be required to have the required driver’s licence for the type of truck they are operating and will be required to perform daily pre-trip inspections.
