Licences and records

  • Driver Licences

A driver’s licence is required to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Driver’s Licences for New Residents

An individual licensed in another jurisdiction taking up residence in New Brunswick must obtain a New Brunswick driver's licence as soon as they take up residence.

  • Driver Records

All accident reports and abstracts of court records of convictions are filed so that an individual record of each licensee is readily available.

Penalties and preventative actions

  • Ignition Interlock

An Ignition Interlock device prevents a driver from starting or driving a vehicle when under the influence of alcohol.

  • Licence Suspension (ALS)

When peace officers have reason to believe that a motorist is under the influence of alcohol, they have explicit authority to request a blood-alcohol concentration test.

  • Impaired driver re-education course

Driving re-education courses are required for anyone who has had their licence suspended because of impaired driving.

  • Pay your police ticket (Before court date)

To pay your police ticket online, by phone at 1-888-762-8600 or at any of our Service New Brunswick offices in the province.
