Overview
Applicants for a driver training course licence must meet all the applicable standards, requirements, terms and conditions under the Motor Vehicle Act. The Motor Vehicle Branch of the Department of Justice and Public Safety provides licensing services for driver training schools and instructors. Issuing a driver training course licence to the applicant authorizes the operation of the course in the particular location specified on the licence.
The Registrar of Motor Vehicles may impose any terms and conditions they consider appropriate in relation to the licence.
A driver training school licence requires the holder to ensure that records are maintained for three years at the premises of the course, indicating the:
- identity of each student
- success or failure record of each student
- number of hours completed by each student in the classroom
- number of hours completed in an instruction vehicle by each student
- method of theoretical instruction completed by each student
- particulars of all maintenance performed on each instruction vehicle
- date of each occasion on which the licence has been renewed
The holder of a driver training course licence who wishes to renew the licence shall apply to the Registrar for renewal not more than sixty days before the licence expires.
