Trail Infrastructure Fund

The provincial government supports both non-motorized (greenway) and motorized trails, enhancing these systems for diverse recreational use.

Non-motorized trails (greenway trail projects)

Eligibility

Greenway trail projects are funding opportunities available to non-motorized trail groups that need financial assistance for trails or trail-related infrastructure through the Regional Development Corporation. Applications will only be accepted from municipalities and incorporated non-profit organizations. Funding applications will be accepted for consideration year-round. 

Level of funding

Up to 40% of eligible costs. Applicants must invest in their project.

Note: Applicants must own or lease the land on which the work will occur.

How to apply

To begin the process, a completed and signed application form (PDF 333 KB) must be submitted by mail, fax or electronically to:

Once the application is received, an RDC officer will guide the applicant through the process.

Motorized trails

Eligibility

The Trail Infrastructure Fund supports the development and maintenance of strategically located safe and sustainable motorized trail networks. The objective of the program is to support the development of a provincial trail network that boosts local economies through linked touring routes and increase opportunities for outdoor recreation. 

Applications will be accepted from the following organizations:   

Level of funding

Projects will be eligible for up to 50% of the cost of the project.

How to apply

Snowmobile and ATV clubs wishing to access trail infrastructure funds must apply through their respective provincial associations: Snowmobile Trails – Snowmobile-Motoneige NB or Quad/ATV Trails – QuadNB.
