Overview
All firefighters may obtain a New Brunswick licence plate for their vehicle that identifies that they are a firefighter. These plates are available free of charge for volunteer firefighters.
Firefighter plates may be obtained in person at local Service New Brunswick offices.
Eligibility
To qualify for a firefighter plate, a firefighter must be named on the list provided to Service New Brunswick by the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs and be in good standing, with a completed Certificate of Volunteer Firefighter Status.
Additionally:
- if you are a career firefighter in a career department, fees apply
- if you are in a fire department with both career and volunteer firefighters, a completed Certificate of Volunteer Firefighter Status form (PDF 1.2 MB) is required stating you are a volunteer
- if you are in a fully volunteer department or a volunteer department with a paid fire chief, your plates are free of charge and no form is required
More information on becoming either a volunteer or career firefighter can be found through the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Fees
These fees can be paid in person at any Service New Brunswick location.
