Adult high school diploma

The adult high school diploma (AHSD) is an alternative to the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) and a regular high school diploma. This is best suited for those only a few credits short of receiving a high school diploma.

To receive a diploma, you must meet the following requirements:

• have not graduated from high school
• be at least 19 
• have successfully completed the course or credit requirements listed below
• send a transcript of all high school marks to the AHSD Administrator via email at [email protected]
• submit the registration form

Request a transcript of marks (PDF 50 KB) or adult high school diploma by completing and sending this form to Service New Brunswick:

• online at the Adult High School Transcript and/or Diploma Request Form
• by telephone at 1-888-762-8600 
• in person at nearest SNB office

There are nine required courses/credits for the Adult High School Diploma:

• 1 Mathematics course/credit at the Grade 11 level
• 1 English course/credit at the Grade 12 level
• 1 Science course/credit at the Grade 11 or Grade 12 level
• 1 French course/credit at the Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11 or Grade 12 level
• 1 History/Social Studies course/credit at the Grade 11 or Grade 12 level
• 1 Computer Literacy course/credit at the Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11 or Grade 12 level
• 3 Optional courses/credits at the Grade 11 or Grade 12 level

Individuals who do not have all the required courses for their Adult High School Diploma may apply to their local Community College to take the required courses.
