Overview
The Department of Natural Resources is committed to supporting First Nation youth by providing a tuition bursary for studies in forestry and natural resources management. This initiative aims to increase Indigenous participation and leadership within New Brunswick’s forest sector. The bursary fund is renewed annually at the start of each fiscal year.
Application process
To apply for the bursary, please complete the application form (PDF 277 KB). Supporting documents required with the application form include:
- proof of full-time enrollment at an accredited institution offering forestry or natural resource management programs (part-time enrollment may be eligible for partial funding)
- proof of membership to a First Nation community in New Brunswick
- proof that the applicant is under the age of 29 (e.g., scan of a driver’s licence)
Applications open annually on April 1 for the following academic year. Responses to submissions will be provided within six weeks of receiving a complete application.
Bursary awards are not automatically renewed for subsequent years. However, previous recipients with satisfactory course completions will be given priority consideration over new applicants. We thank you for your submission; however, only those meeting eligibility criteria will be contacted.
Please submit the completed form and supporting documents to: [email protected]. For programs with alternative start times from traditional fall and winter terms, a modified deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For inquiries, please call 506-259-3478.
