Pesticide applicator certificate

This certificate is proof that the individual has received the necessary education and training to carry out pesticide applications in a safe and responsible manner.

Overview

Any individuals wishing to handle (purchase, sell, store, transport or use) a non-domestic pesticide must hold a Pesticide Applicator Certificate. Commercial (Classes A through K) certification is issued annually. Private (Class L) certification is issued for up to five years.

Description

This certificate is proof that the individual has received the necessary education and training to carry out pesticide applications in a safe and responsible manner. There are certification training programs for all types of pesticide application programs (i.e. training is available for professional lawn care, structural pest control and agricultural use). 

Certification training is self-directed through national pesticide applicator training manuals. Please contact the Authorizations Branch to determine the appropriate training materials for you.
