Water quality monitoring protocol

Overview

The purpose of this Water Monitoring Protocol for Provincial Park Beaches (Protocol) is to define, in a clear and transparent manner, the minimum requirements for sampling and monitoring of the recreational waters within the designated swimming areas at Provincial Park beaches to help minimize the risk of water-borne illness.

The Protocol also defines the roles and responsibilities of the Department of Environment and Local Government (DELG), Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture (THC) and Public Health New Brunswick (PHNB), which are outlined under each relevant section. PHNB is also responsible for ensuring that the Protocol is reviewed annually.
