Overview
Marine finfish aquaculture is regulated under the Clean Environment Act. The Department of Environment and Local Government is responsible for ensuring compliance under the Water Quality Regulation and for developing policies on environmental monitoring and discharge limits, including the approval of all marine finfish aquaculture industries.
The Environmental Management Guidelines for the Marine Finfish Cage Aquaculture Industry in New Brunswick (EMG) have been developed alongside the Standard Operating Practices document, which outlines procedures for carrying out environmental monitoring. A comprehensive auditing component is conducted in conjunction with annual monitoring to ensure compliance with these documents.
The application form is used for approval of new or modified sites and includes sections on historical data, production plans, and site diagrams. Applications are considered complete only when Appendix A – supporting information is fully submitted. Incomplete applications will be returned unprocessed.

All operators of marine finfish aquaculture facilities.

Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
