Procurement information for local government

In New Brunswick, public procurement is subject to a hierarchy of laws, trade agreements and policies. Public sector entities, such as local governments, regional service commissions, Crown Corporations, universities, colleges, and other commissions such as the New Brunswick Police Commission and Financial and Consumer Services Commission, are subject to these legal obligations and have a duty to treat suppliers fairly and get the best value for their dollars.

Suppliers are aware of their rights and are not afraid to take legal action to challenge procurement procedures. For this reason, public sector entities must ensure to familiarize themselves with best practices and their obligations pertaining to public procurement.
