Garbage and refuse

• garbage from multi-unit buildings, special care homes, and family day care homes must be placed in a waterproof wheeled bin with a lid, not blue
• these bins must have a capacity of 360 litres and weigh no more than 45 kg when full
• one bin is allowed for every two units, to a maximum of 10 bins per building
• special care homes and family day care homes may use a maximum of 10 bins per building

Weight limits and exceptions

• up to 70 kg of silage wrap may be set out on a regular collection day
• each silage wrap bundle must weigh no more than 23 kg and be no larger than 1.2 m x 0.6 m x 0.6 m
• more than 45 kg of waste may be set out only on approved special collection days

Recycling

• recyclable materials must be approved by the Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission
• recycling must be placed in a blue wheeled bin that can be handled by a mechanical or automated arm
• recycling bins for single-family homes must have a capacity of 360 litres
• one recycling bin is allowed per single-family residence
• recycling may not be collected if non-recyclable materials are present

Recycling for multi-unit buildings and care facilities

• recycling must be placed in a blue wheeled bin provided by the commission
• bins must have a capacity between 240 and 360 litres
• one recycling bin is allowed for every two units, to a maximum of 10 bins per building
• special care homes and family day care homes may use a maximum of 10 recycling bins per building
