How to pay your property taxes

There are several ways you can pay your property taxes in New Brunswick.

Overview

Tax notices are mailed in March. Property taxes are due as soon as you receive your tax notice. However, for tax notices mailed in March, you have until May 31 to pay your current year taxes without a penalty, unless you sign up for the equalized payment plan.

Equalized payment plan (EPP)

You can sign up to pay your property tax bill in 12 equal monthly payments with no penalties.

Online banking

You can use online banking to pay your property tax bill.

  1. Find New Brunswick Property tax in the list of payees
  2. Use your property account number (PAN) for your account number

Note: The payee name will vary by bank, this list reflects the payee name at some Canadian financial institutions:

By mail

You can pay with a cheque or money order by mail. Do not sent cash by mail.

  1. Remove the payment stub from your tax bill
  2. Make your cheque* or money order payable to “Minister of Finance and Treasury Board.”
  3. Send to:
    Department of Finance
    Revenue and Taxation Division
    P.O. Box 100
    Fredericton, NB  E3B 1B0  

* Put your property account number (PAN) on your cheque. 

Credit card

You can pay with a credit card through Pay Simply.

  1. Make sure “PROV NB – PROPERTY TAXES” is the payment recipient
  2. Use your property account number (PAN) for the account number

This is a third-party service provider that charges a fee for this service.

In person

You can pay for your property taxes in person at any Service New Brunswick location.
