Disability support program

This program provides personalized, flexible support for adults with disabilities to increase their independence and connection to the community.

Overview

The program offers one-on-one guidance to develop a plan tailored to your needs. 

It is open to New Brunswickers, 19 to 64, who have a long-term disability and who need help to support themselves either personally or to participate in the community.

The program support can include:

  • personal support and assistance in and outside the home
  • respite care
  • support for community involvement and participation
  • personal living skills training
  • disability-specific transportation support
  • technical support and devices that are met through policy guidelines
  • residential facility services
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Employment and Support Services Program

The program does not cover support and services offered by other government programs.

Your income will be considered in determining your financial contribution. A financial assessment to determine your contribution toward the cost of approved disability supports will be completed.

Application process

There are three main ways to start the application process:

  • by yourself or with help from family or friends
  • with help from staff at the Department of Social Development or a community agency
  • with help from an independent facilitator from Inclusion NB
