Civil registration of vital events has been ongoing in New Brunswick since 1888. Vital Statistics staff will search for birth, marriage or death records.

The name of the party (or parties) concerned, and the approximate date and place of event must be provided. In the case of a birth, the names of parents, including maiden name of the mother, must also be provided.

The fees for genealogy searches are $15 for the initial period of three years of search and $10 for any additional periods of three years. A statement of facts is issued if a record is located.

Provincial Archives

Events prior to the dates stated above may be accessed from microfilms which can be borrowed through inter-library loans by contacting the Provincial Archives.
