In-person health-care consultations for a common illness, injury, infection or general health concerns. 

In case of an emergency
 If you are having difficulty breathing, chest pain or other severe symptoms, call 911 immediately or go to your local emergency room. Other health concerns would be considered non-emergency.

Overview

If you already have a primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner), contact them first for non-emergency care.  

Medical clinics provide care for New Brunswick patients with non-emergency medical problems who do not have a primary care provider (family physician or nurse practitioner) or who are unable to obtain an appointment with their primary care provider within a reasonable time frame. 

Clinics can provide non-emergency medical care. Most clinics take same-day appointments and require booking ahead before showing up for an appointment.

Treatments

Most appointments are covered with a valid New Brunswick Medicare card. There may be fees depending on the service required (i.e. sick notes) and some services are not provided (chest pain, abdominal pain assessment).  

Some services offered by medical clinics include: 

  • flu symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, chills and fever 
  • sore throat 
  • earache 
  • eye infection 
  • bladder infection 
  • rash (such as scabies, etc.) 
  • testing for sexually transmitted infections 
  • lower back pain from lifting or twisting 
  • order tests such as blood work, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, scopes (such as colonoscopies, etc.)
