Overview

Psychiatry care refers to the medical treatment and management of mental health disorders by a psychiatrist, who is a medical doctor specializing in mental health. Psychiatry care involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders.

Therapeutic services are provided by the Addiction and Mental Health services of the Vitalité and Horizon Health Networks. To be referred for psychiatric care in the hospital, talk with a primary care provider or mental health professional.
