Overview
The goal of this grant is to develop evidence-based initiatives that prevent and reduce gun and gang violence.
The Department of Justice and Public Safety has received funding from Public Safety Canada’s Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund (GGVAF) to support New Brunswick’s five-year plan on gun and gang violence. This five-year plan complements New Brunswick’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy and the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Strategy.

Eligibility
Applicant eligibility
Eligible grant recipients must be one or more of the following:
- municipal or local government, including a band or an Indigenous community (First Nation, Inuit or Metis)
- a provincial or local police service
- a Canadian university, educational institution or board of education
- a domestic not-for-profit organization
Government departments (including the RCMP), federal Crown corporations and for-profit organizations are not eligible. The funding provided is not to be used for any costs already covered by existing police service agreements.
Project eligibility
The following requirements apply to all projects:
- the project must be municipal or provincial
- the project must help create safer communities by reducing gun and gang violence
- the applicant must show how the proposed project will be completed
- the project must have an evaluation framework to track its progress
- the grant recipient must submit a final report to the Department of Justice and Public Safety
The project may be completed in English or French.
A grant fund rubric (PDF 157 KB) is used to determine a proposed project’s adherence to these criteria.
Application
To be considered for funding, applicants must complete the Crime Prevention Conditional Grant Fund application form (PDF 314 KB) and submit it via email to [email protected], along with one letter of support from a partner, stakeholder or a local organization endorsing the project.
Applications from communities with regional resiliency and/or community safety and well-being plans may be given preferential consideration.
