Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety

The Roundtable works with many community and government partners to prevent and reduce crime.

Overview

New Brunswick’s Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety acts as a venue for community agencies, police, the private sector, academia, First Nations groups and government departments to collaborate on improvements to crime prevention.

The roundtable is chaired by the deputy minister of Justice and Public Safety and supported by the Crime Prevention and Program Development Branch.

Intended outcomes

The work of the roundtable is guided by New Brunswick’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy. It is intended to address root causes of crime, making better use of human and financial resources to build safer, more secure communities.

The roundtable focuses on informing and engaging stakeholders, as well as leading evidence-based crime prevention efforts in three priority areas:

  • youth
  • intimate partner violence
  • chronic repeat offending
