Centralized virtual bail court

The Provincial Court of New Brunswick holds virtual bail hearings. Instead of going to a courtroom in person, people join the hearing by video using Microsoft Teams.  The initial rollout is for bail hearings in Fredericton and Woodstock. Then followed by Moncton.

Please note: First appearances will continue to be held in the Regional Provincial Courts.

A participant is anyone directly involved in the hearing including the accused, lawyers, witnesses and interpreters. 

Participants who need a translator (French, English, or any other language) must ask for one ahead of time through your lawyer.

A non-participant is anyone watching. You are not allowed to speak at the hearing but are permitted to watch and listen. Non-participants do not need a camera or headset since they are only observing.

You will need:

• a computer, tablet or smartphone with a camera and headset (if you are a participant)
• a stable internet connection
• access to the Microsoft Teams application 

If you do not already have the Microsoft Teams application, you can download the Microsoft Teams Application online.

• Morning bail hearings: start at 10 am
• Afternoon bail hearings: start at 1:30 pm
