Fires of Note : Fires that may pose a higher risk to people, property, or infrastructure.
Out of Control : Any new start or fire not contained and still growing. Escape probable along established breaks.
Being Monitored : A known, out of control fire that is not immediately threatening life or infrastructure. Monitored by aircraft or satellite with no resources currently assigned.
Contained : The fire is within a bulldozed break or wet line, and ought to restrict growth with continued suppression activity. Fire is still occurring on all or any flanks with escape possible.
Under Control : The fire has a control line around it and the fire activity is low with occasional flare ups. Likelihood of escape is low. Sustained action and mop up underway.
Being Patrolled : Fire contained with breaks or wet lines. Fire activity nil, occasional smokes found, probability of escape is unlikely.
Out : The fire is cold and there has been no visible smoke for at least 24 hours. The Incident Commander (IC) will declare the fire out when they are confident that all fire has been found and extinguished.
