Funding for projects focused on gender-based violence response, education and prevention initiatives in New Brunswick.

Overview

The Gender-Based Violence Action Fund grants up to $5,000 to eligible organizations and groups to implement initiatives or projects that focus on gender-based violence response, education and prevention initiatives in New Brunswick.

Applications open: May 15, 2026
Applications close: August 14, 2026
Successful recipients notified by September 30, 2026

Eligibility

Organizations applying for funding must:

  • be a registered non-profit organization, charity, community group or post-secondary student society or club based in New Brunswick
  • demonstrate a commitment to trauma informed and survivor-centered response, education and prevention initiatives
  • align with the fund’s preference for intersectional approaches that address additional barriers that impact women and/or gender-diverse individuals’ experience of gender-based violence  (e.g., women and gender diverse newcomers,  in rural areas of the province, Francophones, seniors, Indigenous people, 2SLGBTQI+ people, people with disabilities and more)
  • submit a project proposal that will be implemented within the current fiscal year, ending March 31

Consideration will be given to proposals that focus on:

  • building community support networks, especially at the regional and/or municipal levels
  • increasing public understanding, education, and awareness about gender-based violence
  • prevention and intervention initiatives that prevent gender-based violence before it begins
  • supporting survivors, their families, and their communities
  • engaging men and boys in gender-based violence prevention
  • challenging the normalization of violence within communities
  • addressing stigma and stereotypes about gender-based violence
  • promoting healing and mental well-being of those impacted by gender-based violence

Funding parameters

Funding parameters and requirements for eligible applicants and projects include:

  • organizations may apply for up to $5,000 per project
  • funding can support new or existing projects
  • ongoing service delivery as well as activities that have already taken place are not eligible
  • recipients must meet specific terms and conditions of the grant within the fiscal year (e.g. deliverables including narrative report, financial statement, feedback, two copies of any materials produced, etc.)
  • the total funding will be distributed through a competitive application process
