Respiratory watch

Learn about current outbreaks of respiratory illness across the province.

The next Respiratory Watch report will be issued June 23, 2026. Effective that date, reports for the remainder of this respiratory illness season are scheduled for release July 7, August 5 and September 9.

Overview

Respiratory Watch helps monitor respiratory illnesses, their severity and how they change when different viruses spread within the province.

The weekly report provides a high-level summary of the current COVID-19, influenza and RSV activity in New Brunswick. The percent positivity estimates the number of positive tests out of total tests performed for each virus in the province while the number of outbreaks, hospitalizations and deaths provide an indication of the level of severe disease.

The data is used to develop health advice for the public. This information also provides recommendations for strategies and guidelines for Public Health and other health care professionals.
