Casino key employees, casino employees and suppliers must be registered to perform duties or provide services to the casino.

Overview

 People who need to be registered include:

  • casino key employees
  • casino employees
  • gaming suppliers
  • non-gaming suppliers (who provide goods and services to a casino operator in an amount that is equal or greater than $500,000 in any fiscal year of the casino operator, unless the non-gaming supplier is exempt from registration)
  • trade unions representing employees of a casino

Casino operators

Casino employees

Casino key employees and casino employees

 A casino key employee is an individual who is employed in the operation of a casino and who:

  • manages casino employees, directly or indirectly, other than those who are casino housekeeping or maintenance employees
  • exercises significant decision-making authority with respect to the operation of the casino 
  • is responsible for human resources and staffing of the casino or is in charge of the accounting, internal audit, purchasing, compliance or information technology areas of a casino
  • is an officer of the casino operator
  • provides training, under contract with the casino operator, to individuals in gaming, dealing, equipment installation, maintenance or repairs or any other gaming-related aspect of the casino

A casino employee is an individual who is employed in the operation of a casino who:

  • works in a sensitive area of the casino
  • is authorized to issue complimentaries to reward customers of the casino or to promote customer loyalty
  • is the immediate supervisor of any person whose duties are covered under paragraphs (a) or (b)
  • is the manager, or holds any managerial position above that level, of the immediate supervisors of the housekeeping or maintenance employees of the casino operator

To apply for registration, a person must complete an application form (PDF 147 KB), submit the applicable fee of $400 and provide an offer of employment by a casino operator.

A background check will be conducted on the applicant and the Registrar will review the application. A casino key employee or a casino employee must apply for a renewal of registration before the expiration of their licence, every 4 years.

Gaming suppliers

To apply for registration, a person must complete an application form (PDF 112 KB) and submit the applicable fees in order to do business with the casino operator. 

A background check will be conducted on the applicant and the Registrar will review the application. The registration of gaming suppliers, non-gaming suppliers and trade unions expires after one year from the date of the issuance or until terminated.
