Security services training policy

This policy outlines the training requirements established by the Minister pursuant to the Private Investigators and Security Services Act, and the General Regulation 84-103 and takes effect April 1, 2024.

Overview

This document is intended to help applicants understand the new requirements for agencies, security guards, and instructors as they relate to use of force and the option to allow guards to carry batons or handcuffs.

Agency representatives and security guards must complete a training program in the use of batons or handcuffs that has been approved by the Minister if they opt to supply or carry this equipment.
