Overview
Operating permits are issued to the owners of buildings in which elevating devices are installed.
Eligibility
Owners of elevating devices are required to maintain a valid operating permit. After the device is installed, an inspection is conducted. If it is found to be functioning properly, an operating permit is issued. Operating permits must be displayed in a conspicuous place, in or on the elevating device, and renewed annually.
The requirement to obtain an operating permit does not apply to wharf ramps, private residence elevators and private residence incline lifts.
