Elevator plan approval

Ensure you have all the right materials before submitting an elevator plan.

Overview

An approved plan review is required for all new installations and alterations of an elevating device.

Eligibility

Three copies of drawings and specifications, stamped and endorsed by a registered professional engineer, must be submitted to the Chief Inspector and must provide complete information on the size, composition and arrangement of the proposed new or altered installation.

Any person installing or altering an elevating device must have plans approved by the Chief Inspector. The fee for plan approval is included in the cost of an installation permit.

Application

Anyone wishing to submit an elevator plan should fill out an application form (PDF 624 KB) and submit it along with drawings or specifications to:
