Business capability

An ability of an enterprise to achieve a specific purpose or outcome. Business capabilities describe what the organization does to create value for customers, independent of who performs the work or how it is implemented.

Overview

This diagram provides an "at-a-glance" visual representation of government’s Business Capability Reference Model, showing the top two levels of business capabilities in a nested, hierarchical view.

  • The four large blocks signify the key business areas of the Government of New Brunswick.
  • Within each area are the associated Level 1 business capabilities and the Level 2 capabilities that comprise them.

This model spans both government’s internal operations as well as client services for individuals, businesses, and other organizations. It is based on a “whole of government” perspective that defines capabilities without regard to the departments or agencies responsible for their delivery.
